Quinn Orris of Harrisburg, Pa. recently participated in the Lakota Summer Institute (LSI) in Fort Yates, N.D., for the second consecutive summer thanks to a special grant from Lebanon Valley College. A graduate of Northern Senior High School, Orris is pursuing degrees in English, philosophy, and psychology

This summer, Giovanna Ortiz '16 spent time working with Church World Service (CWS)—Lancaster's Immigration Legal Services Program—to resettle immigrants and refugees in the surrounding central Pennsylvania area. She is one of many volunteers who help acclimate approximately 400 individuals to the area during the course of each year.

Four Lebanon Valley College students presented their research papers at The Midwest Association for Latin American Studies (MALAS) Conference which was held Oct. 8-10 at Millersville University.

Seven students who have spent the past few months researching Lebanon Valley College's history ahead of its 150th anniversary, presented their work at the PA Historical Association meeting in Hershey earlier this month.

In addition to working toward earning a Lebanon Valley College degree, 23 students are volunteering through the Lebanon Valley Education Partnership (LVEP) to encourage other, younger students to enroll in college.

Students spent part of the Spring 2015 semester at Lebanon Valley College translating a physical therapy children's book into different languages. The book, "Sammy's Physical Therapy Adventure" had previously been created by Dr. Michael Fink, associate professor of physical therapy, with the assistance of LVC students.

Lebanon Valley College awarded 59 Multicultural Fellowships to students starting classes this fall. These Fellowship awards recognize and reward commitment to work, service, and scholarly achievement for African-American, Latino, Asian, Native American and multiracial LVC students.

Morgan Webb '17, a biology major, joined Dr. Erica Unger, professor of biology, to conduct additional research regarding dopamine levels and their relation to iron deficiency.

Nearly 30 Lebanon Valley College students recently attended the University of Maryland, Baltimore County Undergraduate Research Symposium in the Chemical and Biological Sciences. Twenty-two students presented their research, with several receiving awards.

Cory Paternoster '16, who recently interned at Noisy Little Critter Studios in Downingtown, has been soundproofing rooms and aiding in construction, in addition to running equipment for musicians. The studio, established in 2010 by Mike Bardzik, was built in a refurbished barn and adapted to give artists a place to stay and record.

Corby Myers '17 received an Arnold Grant that allowed her to spend the summer interning at the World Trade Center in Harrisburg. A business administration major, this internship provided practical experience as she seeks a career in international business.

Twenty-two Lebanon Valley College students are spending the fall 2015 semester studying away as part of the College's study abroad program, which includes 12 foreign countries and two stateside internship opportunities.

Lebanon Valley College welcomes its Legacy enrollees as part of the incoming Class of 2019. Legacy students - children of Lebanon Valley College graduates - receive a $2,500 scholarship each year.

This fall Lebanon Valley College's Wig and Buckle Theater Company will perform the 1970 musical comedy "Company" in October as part of its 2015-16 Diamond Season. Since 1935, Wig and Buckle has performed musicals and plays for the enjoyment of LVC students and members of surrounding communities.

Student Government, comprised of 36 full-time students, is tasked with fostering understanding, communication, and cooperation among students, faculty, and administrators.

The Multicultural Student Bridge Program (MSBP) is a three-day pre-orientation program geared at providing incoming first year and transfer ALANA (African/African American, Latino, Asian and Native American) and multiracial students with a jump start on college life at Lebanon Valley College. The program combines peer mentoring, residential living, academic success and leadership development to assist students in making a successful transition to college and the LVC community.

Now entering its second year, the John Bowman Allwein Scholarship, established by Dr. Lewis E. Thayne through the generosity of Dr. John "Jack" Bowman Allwein '56, continues to provide exceptional students with the tools they need to succeed at Lebanon Valley College. Selected from the brightest high school students that show interest in LVC, Allwein Scholars are chosen for their coursework and their promise of leadership.

Fifty-five returning students will participate in the Peer Mentor Program and guide new and transfer students through their first few months at The Valley. Peer mentors are responsible for assisting new students in succeeding personally, socially, and academically through connections to the College and their peers.

Nearly 150 Lebanon Valley College students will march with The Pride of the Valley Marching Band this year. The marching band performs at all home football games as well as appearances at various exhibitions throughout the fall semester.

Fourteen Lebanon Valley College students will perform recitals on campus this fall. Recitals feature a variety of instruments and vocal performances.

A Resident Assistant (RA) oversees a floor or wing in a residence hall. The RA serves as a resource for residential students and provides a residential environment conducive to the overall development of students. The RA role encompasses programming, administrative, and student development responsibilities.

Lebanon Valley College is recognizing its high-achieving first-year students for receiving scholarships from the College.

More than 30 Lebanon Valley College students presented their scientific work at the sixth annual Disappearing Boundaries Summer Research Meeting on Thursday, July 17 at the College's Neidig-Garber Science Center.

Six students from Lebanon Valley College's E.A.T. Research Group recently presented their research at the annual conference meeting for the Association of the Study of Food and Society (ASFS) and the Agriculture, Food and Human Values Society (AFHVS). The conference, dedicated to the theme "Bridging the Past, Cultivating the Future," brought nearly 500 academics and food professionals to the campus of Chatham University in Pittsburgh, Pa. from June 24-28.

Lebanon Valley College has chosen 60 students to serve as Valley Ambassadors. Valley Ambassadors welcome prospective students and their families, providing a tour through LVC's campus and sharing their knowledge of The Valley.

Lebanon Valley College students get the chance to play college sports at a high level while pursuing their intellectual and career goals, and enjoying other interests. While competing for conference championships and earning national rankings, our student-athletes have the flexibility to double major, study abroad, and pursue internships--opportunities that will inform their lives long after their playing careers end.

Eleven students and three faculty members participated in Lebanon Valley College's service-learning trip to Caguas, Puerto Rico in May. Group members visited a residential facility for seniors and a shelter for victims of domestic violence during the one week, high-impact experience. The afternoons were spent tutoring children in two elementary schools, and evenings were devoted to learning about the island from invited guest speakers.

Lebanon Valley College has announced its Dean's List recipients for the spring 2015 semester. Dean's list students must maintain a GPA of at least 3.4 out of 4.0.
