Thirteen Lebanon Valley College students and three employees participated in a winter break Navajo Nation Service-Learning Trip. The group spent the week immersed in life on a Navajo reservation as they completed numerous projects on two different farms in Tuba City, Arizona.

Lebanon Valley College Students Complete Service Activities during Spring Break

Lebanon Valley College students virtually connected with various organizations in Cochabamba, Bolivia to explore issues of human rights. They also participated in local service projects including cooking and packing the free noon meal at Lebanon County Christian Ministries, leading lessons on college and careers with students at Northwest Elementary School, and serving with Jubilee Ministries.

Seven Lebanon Valley College students attended the 2020 Social Justice Institute, led by the Office of Intercultural Affairs and Inclusive Programming, and explored the theme of "Maintaining Dignity Amidst Poverty." This year's trip partnered with local and NYC-based community organizations to provide students an opportunity to participate in immersive service.

Nine Lebanon Valley College students and two employees traveled to Peru for a week of service and cultural immersion. Living in Misminay for most of the trip, the group taught English to children and built and planted a greenhouse in order to establish a sustainable food source for the community.

Allwein Scholar Travels to Bosnia on Mission Service Trip

Nicole Flohr '21 is one of very few students to be granted Lebanon Valley College's most prestigious scholarship. The John Bowman Allwein Scholarship is a full-tuition scholarship with an annual stipend that students use for research, internships, study abroad costs, or anything that benefits their undergraduate experience.

Students Gain Global Perspective During Service-Learning Trip to Peru

International service learning trips open a whole new perspective to students who do not usually find themselves encountering extreme cultural immersion. On May 16, 14 students and two faculty advisors set off for a week in Peru where they worked with the Misminay community. It is the second LVC group to participate in this high-impact experience, with the first group visiting in 2014.

Lebanon Valley College Students Complete Spring Break Service Trip to Florida

Twenty two students and staff from Lebanon Valley College just returned from an alternative spring break service trip to St. Augustine, Fla. The trip, which took place from March 5 to March 12, was the first time the College has participated with non-profit organizations Council on Aging, the St. Gerard Pregnancy Center, and the St. John's Housing Partnership. They seek to bring people together to build homes, communities, and hope.

Lebanon Valley College Students Complete Service-Learning Trip to Puerto Rico

Eleven students and three faculty members participated in Lebanon Valley College's service-learning trip to Caguas, Puerto Rico in May. Group members visited a residential facility for seniors and a shelter for victims of domestic violence during the one week, high-impact experience. The afternoons were spent tutoring children in two elementary schools, and evenings were devoted to learning about the island from invited guest speakers.
