Lebanon Valley College Introduces Pride of The Valley Marching Band Students
More than 125 Lebanon Valley College students will march with The Pride of The Valley Marching Band this year. The marching band performs at all home football games as well as appearances at various exhibitions throughout the fall semester.

Lebanon Valley College welcomes nearly 50 students who will participate in the Peer Mentor Program and guide new and transfer students through their first few months at The Valley. Lebanon Valley College is pleased to welcome its third class of Allwein Scholars. They begin their college careers at The Valley in August. Four students received the prestigious John Bowman Allwein Scholarship, established by Dr. Lewis E. Thayne, LVC president, through the generosity of Dr. John "Jack" Bowman Allwein '56.

Students Gain Global Perspective During Service-Learning Trip to Peru
International service learning trips open a whole new perspective to students who do not usually find themselves encountering extreme cultural immersion. On May 16, 14 students and two faculty advisors set off for a week in Peru where they worked with the Misminay community. It is the second LVC group to participate in this high-impact experience, with the first group visiting in 2014.

E.A.T. Research Group Students Present Projects at Conference
Four students from Lebanon Valley College's E.A.T. (Engage, Analyze, Transform) Research Group traveled to the University of Toronto-Scarborough in June to present their research at the annual meeting of the Association for the Study of Food and Society (ASFS), the Agriculture, Food and Human Values Society (AFHVS), and the Canadian Association of Food Studies (CAFS).

Students Receive Arnold Grants for Research and Internships
Various Lebanon Valley College students will study healthcare in Cuba, analyze the Lakota language, and intern at the Pennsylvania House of Representatives. Other students will collaborate with faculty to research user experience differences between American and German students, identify the relationship between genetics and personality in peer pressure, and travel to Brazil for pipe organ education as part of this year's Arnold Grant program.

Lebanon Valley College celebrated its 147th Commencement on Saturday, May 14 with 476 students receiving their degrees in Sorrentino Gymnasium. The 369 graduating seniors were joined by 37 doctor of physical therapy candidates, and 70 master's degree candidates.

Lebanon Valley College Inducts Students Into Phi Kappa Pi Honor Society
Lebanon Valley College inducted 16 students to its Phi Kappa Pi honor society on April 17, 2016, as part of Inquiry 2016. Phi Kappa Pi, the Business and Economics Department honor society, is open to business, accounting, and economics majors. Selection is made by department faculty. Membership is open to those with junior or senior status, a department GPA of 3.4 or higher, and a College GPA of 3.25 or higher. Candidates for membership must also exhibit participation in department, college, or community activities demonstrating leadership and non-academic involvement.

Lebanon Valley College Inducts Students Into Phi Sigma Iota Honor Society
Lebanon Valley College inducted 24 students to its Phi Sigma Iota honor society on April 13, 2016, as part of Inquiry 2016. Phi Sigma Iota, the Department of Languages honor society, recognizes outstanding accomplishment in the study or teaching of any of the academic fields related to foreign language, literature, or culture. These fields include not only modern foreign languages, but also classics, linguistics, philology, comparative literature, bilingual education, second language acquisition, and other interdisciplinary programs with a significant foreign language component. Phi Sigma Iota is the highest academic honor in the field of foreign languages, with 250 chapters of Phi Sigma Iota at institutions of higher learning in the U.S., Mexico, and France.

Lebanon Valley College Inducts Students Into Kappa Delta Pi Honor Society
Lebanon Valley College inducted 31 students to its Kappa Delta Pi honor society on April 12, 2016, as part of Inquiry 2016. Education students are eligible for membership in Kappa Delta Pi, the international honor society in education. Founded in 1911, Kappa Delta Pi represents knowledge, duty, and power. Pioneering from its beginning by including women as well as men, KDP grew from a local chapter to the international organization it is today, comprising 600 chapters and more than 40,000 members. Albert Einstein, George Washington Carver, Eleanor Roosevelt, and Margaret Mead are just a few of the historically known members.
