This Arnold Grant enabled three LVC students to work with each other and Dr. Kathleen Tacelosky, chair of Department of Languages and professor of Spanish, to plan and carry out a readers' and writers' workshop to support linguistic development of transnational students.

Lebanon Valley College Students Participate in European Union Simulation
Fourteen Lebanon Valley College students recently represented the College at the annual simulated European Union (EU) parliamentary session in Washington, D.C. A culmination of the course DSP 380: "EU Simulation," the trip was organized by the Mid-Atlantic European Union Simulation Consortium (MAEUSC).

Lebanon Valley College Students Receive Grant to Study in Italy
A pair of star music voice majors had a truly unique global experience this summer after being accepted to study at the prestigious international institute "Opera Viva" in Verona, Italy. There, during separate sessions, they studied Italian opera, the Italian language, how to prepare concert repertoire in a master class, and work on the Alexander Technique.

Students Receive Arnold Grant for Art Journal
This Arnold Grant supported a six-week summer project in which two students will work alongside a professor on editing, designing, and publishing a journal of essays written by Lebanon Valley College students in Color + Culture (ART 351) from 2004 through 2015.

Students Receive Arnold Grant to Research 150th Anniversary
This summer 2015 project will continue and finalize research conducted in History 460 during the spring 2015 semester. Students in that course began designing a campus-wide exhibit that will be displayed in 2016 as part of Lebanon Valley College's 150th anniversary celebration.

Quinn Orris of Harrisburg, Pa. recently participated in the Lakota Summer Institute (LSI) in Fort Yates, N.D., for the second consecutive summer thanks to a special grant from Lebanon Valley College. Giovanna Ortiz Recounts Internship with Church World Service
This summer, Giovanna Ortiz '16 spent time working with Church World Service (CWS)—Lancaster's Immigration Legal Services Program—to resettle immigrants and refugees in the surrounding central Pennsylvania area. She is one of many volunteers who help acclimate approximately 400 individuals to the area during the course of each year.

LVC Students Assist in Translation of Physical Therapy Children's Book
Students spent part of the Spring 2015 semester at Lebanon Valley College translating a physical therapy children's book into different languages. The book, "Sammy's Physical Therapy Adventure" had previously been created by Dr. Michael Fink, associate professor of physical therapy, with the assistance of LVC students.

Cory Paternoster Completes Music Internship at Noisy Little Critter Studios
Cory Paternoster '16, who recently interned at Noisy Little Critter Studios in Downingtown, has been soundproofing rooms and aiding in construction, in addition to running equipment for musicians. The studio, established in 2010 by Mike Bardzik, was built in a refurbished barn and adapted to give artists a place to stay and record.

Lebanon Valley College Students Perform in the Musical "Company"
This fall Lebanon Valley College's Wig and Buckle Theater Company will perform the 1970 musical comedy "Company" in October as part of its 2015-16 Diamond Season. Since 1935, Wig and Buckle has performed musicals and plays for the enjoyment of LVC students and members of surrounding communities.

Lebanon Valley College Students Participate in Multicultural Student Bridge Program
The Multicultural Student Bridge Program (MSBP) is a three-day pre-orientation program geared at providing incoming first year and transfer ALANA (African/African American, Latino, Asian and Native American) and multiracial students with a jump start on college life at Lebanon Valley College. The program combines peer mentoring, residential living, academic success and leadership development to assist students in making a successful transition to college and the LVC community.

Now entering its second year, the John Bowman Allwein Scholarship, established by Dr. Lewis E. Fifty-five returning students will participate in the Peer Mentor Program and guide new and transfer students through their first few months at The Valley. Peer mentors are responsible for assisting new students in succeeding personally, socially, and academically through connections to the College and their peers.
