Lebanon Valley College Again Included by U.S. News & World Report Among "Great Schools, Great Price" and Among Best Regional Universities (North)
LVC Moves Up to Top Four Percent for Actual Graduation Rate
Annville, PA (09/12/2017) — After welcoming a record number of students two weeks ago, Lebanon Valley College continued its success at placing among the Best Regional Universities and Great Schools, Great Price schools in U.S. News & World Report's annual edition of "America's Best Colleges." The 2018 version of "America's Best Colleges" has the Hershey-area LVC ranked 24th and 14th respectively in the two categories (Regional Universities, North).
U.S. News & World Report also continued to place Lebanon Valley College highly in several other areas important to prospective students and their families. LVC was in the top 10% nationally among all 659 Regional Universities in Actual Graduation Rate (top 4%), Percentage of Freshmen in Top 25% of High School Class (top 9%), and Average Alumni Giving Rate (top 10%).
U.S. News & World Report publishes the best-known ratings of the nation's colleges and universities. The "Great Schools, Great Price" ranking is based on a calculation that takes into account a school's academic quality based on its U.S. News Best Colleges ranking and the 2016-17 net cost of attendance for a student who received the average level of need-based financial aid. The higher the quality of the program and the lower the cost, the better the deal.
Graduates of LVC's Class of 2017 are enrolled in graduate programs ranging from pathology and chemical engineering to international affairs and podiatric medicine. Two members of the class earned Fulbright Scholarships (Bulgaria and Hungary) while another was named a prestigious Thomas R. Pickering Graduate Foreign Affairs Fellow by the U.S. Department of State. They are also employed in fulfilling careers, including as a Peace Corps teacher in Namibia, Africa, and Wildland Firefighter in Yampa, Colo.
These new alumni attend a variety of notable graduate schools across the country, including Case Western Reserve University, Columbia University, Lehigh University, Loyola University of New Orleans, New York College of Podiatric Medicine, Penn State College of Medicine, University of Florida, University of Maryland, University of New Hampshire, University of Pennsylvania, University of Wisconsin, Vanderbilt University, and Villanova University.
"The personal relationships our students develop with their faculty mentors is an important reason Lebanon Valley College has such an impressive graduation rate, which in turn leads to national recognition from U.S. News and others," said Edwin Wright, vice president of enrollment management.
This fall, 100 percent of the entering class received grant or scholarship aid from the College. Generous academic scholarships are awarded to students whose high school records demonstrate a commitment to achievement.
Further, LVC's Global Network is more than 16,000 strong and includes alumni in more than 30 countries and all 50 states.
