Community Members Invited to Sustained Interfaith Dialogue

March 27 at 11 a.m. in Frederic K. Miller Chapel

Annville, PA (03/20/2018) — Many religions have long traditions of theological reflection resting on the proper way to understand truth, often, at least in the west, resting on the relationship between the heart and the mind. On Tuesday, March 27, at 11 a.m., representatives of local congregations will engage questions regarding the relationship between faith and reason: How do I know I am right? Or does it matter? What role does faith play in your life? What role does reason play in your life? Are faith and reason necessarily at odds? What is the relationship between faith and reason?

Panelists for LVC's Sustained Dialogues series, now in its fifth year, include individuals from Christian, Jewish, Hindu, Muslim, Buddhist, nature-based religion, and non-believer communities. After panelists provide initial responses, the topic is opened to all participants for comment and question. A light pizza and salad lunch will accompany the discussion (registration required), scheduled to last approximately one hour. Sustained Dialogues, which are conducted at colleges and universities across the United States, typically focus on social issues within a particular area such as ethnic background, social status, genders, political affiliations, and religion. The dialogues at Lebanon Valley College are free and open to the public. A pizza and salad luncheon will served. To register, call 717-867-6135 or email nsmith@lvc.edu.
