Community Members Invited to Sustained Interfaith Dialogue

February 27 at 11 a.m. in Frederic K. Miller Chapel

Annville, PA (02/23/2018) — The historic interaction between religions have run the gamut from peaceful coexistence and cooperation to war and genocide. On Tuesday, Feb. 27, at 11 a.m., representatives of local congregations will engage questions regarding their view of other religious traditions and people of other religions: Is there truth in other religions? Do I have an obligation to proselytize to people who follow other traditions? Do I have to respect others' beliefs or practices? How should I interact with people of other religions?

Panelists for LVC's Sustained Dialogue Series, now in its fifth year, include individuals from Christian, Jewish, Hindu, Muslim, Buddhist, nature-based religion, and non-believer communities. After panelists provide initial responses, the topic will open to all participants for comment and question. A light pizza lunch will accompany the discussion, scheduled to last approximately one hour. Sustained Dialogues (SDs), which are conducted at colleges and universities across the United States, typically focus on social issues within a particular area such as ethnic background, social status, genders, political affiliations, and religion. The dialogues at Lebanon Valley College are free and open to the public. A pizza and salad luncheon will served. To register, call 717-867-6135 or email nsmith@lvc.edu.
