$1.5 Million Gift Boosts Lebanon Valley College Art Gallery

by Tom Hanrahan

Annville, PA (12/15/2021) — President James M. MacLaren, Ph.D., announced that Suzanne Arnold Schrotberger H'96 would contribute $1.5 million to create The Suzanne Arnold Schrotberger Endowed Gallery Directorship at Lebanon Valley College (LVC). LVC's art gallery presents exhibitions by renowned artists such as Jerry Pinkney, Dorothea Lange, Mary Cassatt, and Ansel Adams and displays student art annually. Dr. Barbara McNulty has served as director of the Suzanne H. Arnold Art Gallery since 2011 and will continue in the now-endowed position.

Suzanne is the founding donor of The Suzanne H. Arnold Art Gallery (1994) and the first chair of LVC's Arts Committee. Her latest gift includes a $100,000 challenge to support internships and other hands-on experiences in the fine arts. "I am so grateful to Suzanne for her commitment to the arts and student learning. This gift significantly expands resources for the gallery to inspire engagement with culture, creativity, expression, and meaning," said President MacLaren.

Alumni and friends can support the challenge here.

Housed in a former church in the gothic-revival style, the Suzanne H. Arnold Art Gallery hosts five to six exhibitions a year, with loans from major national and regional art museums, galleries, and collectors. Exhibitions are made possible by The Friends of the Gallery, the Gallery's membership group, and other generous sponsors.

"The art gallery at LVC is a gem within the regional arts community," noted Suzanne. "Dr. McNulty and future directors will continue the work of bringing the arts alive to countless generations of future artists and art lovers."
