Vickandy Figueroa Barcelona of Bronx Participates in Lebanon Valley College's Summer Enrichment Program

2017 Jul 20

Vickandy Figueroa Barcelona of Bronx, N.Y., recently participated in the Summer Enrichment Program at Lebanon Valley College. Figueroa Barcelona is a graduate of Urban Assembly School for the Performing Arts and is pursuing a bachelor of music in audio and music production.

Renata Williams, director of intercultural affairs and inclusive programming, has transformed the former three-day Multicultural Bridge Program into the Summer Enrichment Program, a seven-day program geared at providing incoming first-year and transfer ALANA (African/African American, Latina, Asian, and Native American) and multiracial students with a jump start on college life. The program combines peer mentoring, residential living, academic success, and leadership development.

"Moving the program from August to July helped Summer Enrichment Program students move in and get acclimated with campus prior to the hustle and bustle of regular orientation," said Williams. "They participated in events and activities geared at helping them make a successful transition to college life, and became familiar with resources that will help them succeed at LVC."
