2018 Apr 30

Lebanon Valley College held its 69th Annual All-Sports Reception on Sunday, April 29 at Sorrentino Gymnasium, awarding year-end accolades and team MVP honors as LVC's senior student-athletes were recognized for their achievements. Sarah Grow of Turbotville, Pa., a member of the women's cross country and track and field team, received the following award(s): Women's Sportsmanship Award.

Sarah "Tilly" Grow earned the Women's Sportsmanship Award, which like the Maston Award is given to the female student-athlete who best represents Lebanon Valley College through sportsmanship, determination, and a love of sport. A member of the women's cross country and track & field programs, Grow was named to the MAC Sportsmanship Team this past fall. She was one of the cross country team's most consistent performers this season before earning indoor track & field bronze as a member of LVC's DMR and 4x800m relay teams. She is a multiple-time MAC Academic Honor Roll honoree and one of the most highly respected student-athletes on campus.

Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) Team of the Year honors went to men's basketball and women's tennis to lead the major awards.

Men's basketball won the program's first outright conference championship in 23 years and earned a berth in the NCAA Tournament for the first time in more than a decade. Sam Light earned an all-America honorable mention nod and Andy Orr was named a CoSIDA Academic All-American. The squad as a whole was pegged the NABC Division III National Team of the Week in January.

Women's tennis won 14 matches last spring, finished undefeated against MAC Commonwealth opposition in the regular season, and earned the top seed in the conference's championship tournament before bowing out in the MAC Commonwealth Championship match. Joy Graeff was named the conference's coach of the year and Marla Scacchitti was tabbed second-team all-conference.

Men's soccer head coach Charlie Grimes offered the event's invocation. Men's ice hockey and men's golf's Russ Armbruster and women's soccer's Katie Goldsmith presented the SAAC Team of the Year awards, while men's soccer's Nate Gibbons presented the women's soccer team with the inaugural Step UP! Team of the Year award.

In addition, 15 Dutchmen earned Distinguished Athlete accolades for earning eight varsity letters or receiving regional and/or national honors, while an impressive 77 student-athletes received LVC Scholar-Athlete recognition for being a junior, senior, or graduate student with a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher.
