Samuel Light Recognized as LVC Student-Athlete

Samuel Light of Jonestown, Pa., is one of more than 150 student-athletes who competed for the Flying Dutchmen during the 2016-17 winter sports season. Light, a graduate of Northern Lebanon High School, is pursuing a bachelor of science in business administration at The Valley.

Light was a member of the men's basketball team. The Flying Dutchmen ended their season with a 9-7 record against MAC Commonwealth opponents. After a successful regular season, Lebanon Valley made a run to the semifinal round of the leagueOs postseason tournament. Sam Light and Andy Orr had standout seasons with both players being named all-region, earning MAC Commonwealth First-Team All-Conference honors, and both surpassing the 1,000-career point mark. Light's post-season accolades included: ECAC South Division III First-Team All-Star, City of Basketball Love All-Area Second Team, and Second-Team All-Middle-Atlantic by the National Association of Basketball Coaches.

A member of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division III, American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA), Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC), and Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC), Lebanon Valley College offers 25 sports.
