2018 Mar 12

Samuel Light of Jonestown, Pa., is one of two Lebanon Valley College men's basketball athletes who have earned All-Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) honors. Light was named to the All-ECAC First-Team for the second year in a row.

One of the top scorers in the nation, Light was named to the Bevo Francis Award Top 100 Watch List, which consists of the 100 finest men's basketball players in the country who compete for small schools in the affiliations of NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III, NAIA Division I, NAIA Division II, USCAA, and NCCAA. The senior was voted the MAC Commonwealth Championship Game Most Valuable Player (MVP) after earning first-team all-conference honors for the third time. The senior won the MAC Commonwealth Scoring Title for the second year in a row and ranks 11th in the country in total free throws made and 18th in the nation with a 23.0 points-per-game average. He was named the U.S. Basketball Writers of America (USBWA) Division III National Player of the Week in January to go along with three MAC Commonwealth Player of the Week awards, an ECAC South Player of the Week award, and a spot on the D3hoops.com Team of the Week. The team captain became just the third player in program history to score 2,000 career points and finished his career as LVC's second-highest scorer (2,097 points) of all time.

Light, a graduate of Northern Lebanon High School, is pursuing a bachelor of science in business administration at The Valley.

This season, the duo led Lebanon Valley (18-10) to the program's first outright conference title since 1995 and its first appearance in the NCAA Division III Championship Tournament since 2005.
