Samuel Light Earns Basketball Postseason Honors

2018 Mar 28

Samuel Light of Jonestown, Pa., is one of two Lebanon Valley College men's basketball student-athletes who received additional postseason accolades.

Light was named All-District First-Team by the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC). Each year, the organization recognizes the nation's best men's collegiate basketball student-athletes and coaches, as selected by member coaches of the NABC in NCAA Division III. Light was also named to the D3hoops.com All-Middle Atlantic Region First Team.

One of the top scorers in the nation, Light was named to the Bevo Francis Award Top 100 Watch List, which consists of the 100 finest men's basketball players in the country who compete for small schools in the affiliations of NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III, NAIA Division I, NAIA Division II, USCAA, and NCCAA. The senior was voted the MAC Commonwealth Championship Game Most Valuable Player (MVP) after earning first-team all-conference honors for the third time. The senior won the MAC Commonwealth Scoring Title for the second year in a row and ranks 11th in the country in total free throws made and 18th in the nation with a 23.0 points-per-game average. He was named the U.S. Basketball Writers of America (USBWA) Division III National Player of the Week in January to go along with three MAC Commonwealth Player of the Week awards, an ECAC South Player of the Week award, and a spot on the D3hoops.com Team of the Week. The team captain became just the third player in program history to score 2,000 career points and finished his career as LVC's second-highest scorer (2,097 points) of all time.

Light, a graduate of Northern Lebanon High School, is pursuing a bachelor of science in business administration at The Valley.
