Samantha Bost Named to Middle Atlantic Conference Academic Honor Roll

2016 Jun 30

Samantha Bost of Eldersburg, Md., is one of more than 150 Lebanon Valley student-athletes named to the Middle Atlantic Conference's (MAC) Winter and Spring Academic Honor Roll.

Bost, a graduate of Liberty High School, is a member of the softball team, and is pursuing a bachelor of science in health science at The Valley. Bost turned in one of the most incredible seasons in school history in 2016, both athletically and academically. She was named first-team all-America by the NFCA and HERO Sports after earning CoSIDA Academic All-America and NFCA Scholar-Athlete honors earlier this spring. One of 10 finalists for the NFCA/Schutt Sports National Player of the Year award, she was named the MAC Commonwealth Player of the Year for the second time, was named NFCA All-Region for the third time, and set the NCAA record for consecutive stolen bases across all divisions. The ECAC South First-Team All-Star and MAC Commonwealth First-Team All-Conference pick ranked third in the nation with a .551 batting average, third in the country with a 1.46 runs per game average, and eighth among NCAA Division III players with a .577 on-base percentage. She reset her single-season program records for hits (70), runs scored (51), and triples (5), and finished with an outstanding 1.238 OPS. In addition to her academic all-America honor, the health science/physical therapy major was named CoSIDA Academic All-District after recording a 4.00 GPA this spring. Bost was also named to MAC Academic All-Conference in the fall as a member of the women's soccer team.

The academic honor roll is comprised of student-athletes who compete in a varsity level sport and registered a term/semester GPA of 3.20 (on a 4.00 scale) or higher. In 2015-16, the MAC allowed freshmen to be eligible for the conference academic honor roll for the first time.

The addition of freshmen allowed for a record 2,278 MAC student-athletes who competed in baseball, men's and women's basketball, men's and women's golf, men's and women's lacrosse, softball, men's and women's swimming, men's and women's tennis, men's and women's indoor track & field, and men's and women's outdoor track & field to earn honor roll recognition. A total of 827 student-athletes were named to the winter honor roll and 1,451 were named to the spring version.
