Roberto Valdes of Lebanon a Student Leader at Lebanon Valley College

Roberto Valdes of Lebanon, Pa., is serving as a student leader at Lebanon Valley College this year. Valdes is the vice president of LVEP (Lebanon Valley Education Partnership) and College Democrats.

The Lebanon Valley Education Partnership between the college and the Lebanon Area School District encourages freshmen to volunteer during their first semester to mentor low-income students in the eighth grade at Lebanon Middle School. The mentor encourages students with academic potential to complete the college preparatory program during high school to compete for acceptance to college.

Valdes is a sophomore political science major.

Lebanon Valley College is located in Annville, Pa., just 15 minutes east of Hershey and 35 minutes east of Harrisburg. Philadelphia, Washington D.C. and Baltimore are all approximately two hours from LVC. Founded in 1866, the College welcomes more than 1,600 full-time undergraduate students studying more than 30 majors, as well as self-designed majors. It guarantees graduation within four years and offers automatic scholarships to students ranking in the top 30 percent of their high school class worth up to one half the cost of tuition at LVC.
