Nicholas Scullin Earns USTFCCCA Academic Honors
2018 Feb 26
Nicholas Scullin of Winfield, Pa., earned all-academic honors from the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches' Association (USTFCCCA).
Scullin, a graduate of Lewisburg Area High School, is pursuing a bachelor of science in biology at LVC. Scullin came home 15th at the MAC Championships, good enough to earn him MAC Second-Team All-Conference recognition last fall. He ended his season with an impressive 58th-place finish at the NCAA Mideast Regional, and for the second year in a row, earned MAC Academic All-Conference honors. Scullin capped his outstanding career by being named the MAC Men's Cross Country Senior Scholar-Athlete of the Year.
Individually, there were 668 student-athletes (368 women, 300 men) that received USTFCCCA All-Academic honors. To earn that distinction, student-athletes must have a cumulative GPA of 3.30 or higher and finish in the top 25 percent at their respective regional. The team must also have a minimum team GPA of 3.10 on a 4.0 scale.
The Flying Dutchmen also earned USTFCCCA Team Academic Awards as a whole, with both the men's and women's teams qualifying for the accolade.
