Kyle Irvin of Palmyra Represents Spain in European Union Simulation
2012 Jan 12
Kyle Irvin of Palmyra, Pa., participated in the Mid-Atlantic European Union Simulation in Washington, D.C., in November 2011. Irvin and seven other Lebanon Valley College students represented Spain; LVC alumnus Christopher DeLorenzo '10 served as chair of the council.
Students were assigned to pass a resolution created by a panel of student European Commission members, focusing on Turkish Accession. Irvin, a senior political science major, represented Spain's Luis Yanez-Barnuevo Garcia, security and defense, in the simulation.
The simulation engages students in discussion about topics currently debated by EU members, and is just one of many high-impact activities that Lebanon Valley College students experience. Students were accompanied to Washington, D.C. by Dr. Philip Benesch, associate professor of political science. The EU Simulation course is co-taught by Benesch and Dr. Diane Johnson, also associate professor of political science.
