Kimberly Ortiz-Marrero Recognized for softball at Lebanon Valley College

Kimberly Ortiz-Marrero of Ephrata, Pa., was one of more than 200 Lebanon Valley College students who played a varsity sport during the 2016 spring season. Ortiz-Marrero, a graduate of JP McCaskey East High School, was a member of Lebanon Valley's softball team(s). Ortiz-Marrero received a bachelor of arts in Spanish at The Valley.

Lebanon Valley finished 18-17 for the season and went 7-9 in MAC Commonwealth play. The Dutchmen were ranked eighth in the East Region in the NCAA's initial Division III regional rankings. Cheyanne Brown and Jordyn Miller earned MAC Commonwealth All-Conference First-Team honors, while Emily Johnson picked up a second-team nod. Sammy Bost was named the MAC Commonwealth Player of the Year to go along with a plethora of other accolades, including an NCAA record across all divisions for consecutive stolen bases. She earned her third straight NFCA All-America honor and along with Johnson and Brown, was named NFCA All-East Region. Bost was one of ten finalists for the NFCA/Schutt Sports Division III National Player of the Year award and earned her first CoSIDA Academic All-America honor this spring.

A member of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division III, American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA), Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC), and Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC), Lebanon Valley College offers 24 sports.
