Katrina Zervanos Completed Lebanon Valley College's Interfaith Certification Program

2016 May 3

Katrina Zervanos of Annville, Pa. is one of three students who completed Lebanon Valley College's Interfaith Certification Program during the 2015-2016 academic year. Zervanos, a graduate of Central Dauphin High School, is pursuing a bachelor of science in actuarial science from The Valley.

The certificate encourages student exploration of the faiths of others in light of the student's own religious identity both in and beyond the classroom. There are multiple interfaith opportunities at The Valley, including Sustained Interfaith Dialogues, IFYC's Interfaith Leadership Institute, tours of local houses of worship, trips to local worship experiences, and Interfaith Service Projects.

Additionally, the College offers a variety of interfaith courses, including Religion in America, a study of the origin and development of religious expression in America with special emphasis on issues of religious diversity; Encountering World Religions, which examines the beliefs and practices of major religious traditions and movements; and Comparative Scriptures, which familiarizes students with a variety of religious texts from several religious traditions.

Upon completion of the certification program, Zervanos received a formal certificate as well as a special interfaith award at the annual Student Affairs Dessert Banquet. Additionally, the honor is noted on Zervanos's LVC Job Center Profile, the LVC website, and in the Commencement program at Zervanos's graduation.
