Kate Mowrey Earns USTFCCCA Academic Honors

2018 Feb 26

Kate Mowrey of Hanover, Pa., earned all-academic honors from the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches' Association (USTFCCCA).

Mowrey, a graduate of Delone Catholic High School, is pursuing a bachelor of science in exercise science at LVC. Mowrey turned in a strong sophomore season that saw her cap the fall with an 80th-place finish at the NCAA Mideast Regional in a field of 351 runners. She just missed out on a top-10 finish at the Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Championship event in October but her 13th-place effort was good enough to earn her all-conference second-team honors. She also earned a spot on the MAC Academic Honor Roll in January.

Individually, there were 668 student-athletes (368 women, 300 men) that received USTFCCCA All-Academic honors. To earn that distinction, student-athletes must have a cumulative GPA of 3.30 or higher and finish in the top 25 percent at their respective regional. The team must also have a minimum team GPA of 3.10 on a 4.0 scale.

The Flying Dutchmen also earned USTFCCCA Team Academic Awards as a whole, with both the men's and women's teams qualifying for the accolade.
