Jill Daugherty Serves on Lebanon Valley College Senior Class Gift Drive Committee

2014 Nov 14

Lebanon Valley College senior Jill Daugherty of Red Lion, Pa., is serving as a member of the Senior Class Gift Drive Committee. Daugherty, a graduate of Red Lion Area High School, is pursuing a bachelor of science in early childhood education and special education at The Valley.

Daugherty and other members of the Class of 2015 Gift Drive Committee recently announced their goals for the Senior Class Gift Drive. In celebration of their graduation year, committee members hope to raise $2,015 for Lebanon Valley College through multiple giving opportunities during the 2014-15 academic year. Generous gifts from Woodrow "Skip" Dellinger '62 will aid these fundraising efforts to not only meet, but exceed this goal.

The Class of 2015 Gift Drive gives LVC seniors the opportunity to support the College community. Seniors are able to designate where their donations go based upon where their passions lie. Areas of designation include The Valley Fund, scholarships and financial aid, academic departments, athletics, cultural activities, High-impact Experience Fund for Students, and the President's Innovation Fund for Faculty.

In addition to raising $2,015 for LVC, the committee also hopes to have 110 students participate in the Gift Drive. When the class meets benchmarks toward this participation goal, Dellinger will provide additional support. He has agreed to donate $1,000 after 55 seniors have donated and another $1,000 when the participation goal is met.

To kick off the Gift Drive, the committee hosted a social for seniors on Oct. 23. Thirty-seven seniors donated to the Gift Drive at this event, leaving the class only 18 donations away from meeting its first benchmark.

"We are very excited for the opportunity to work with Mr. Dellinger," said Jill Daugherty '15, senior class president. "His generosity ensures that our wonderful experiences at The Valley will be possible for future LVC students. He's helping us to leave behind something great, and we are very thankful for his support."
