Jarrod Goss an O'Donnell Scholar in English at Lebanon Valley College

Lebanon Valley College recently named Jarrod Goss of Thompsontown, Pa., an O'Donnell Scholar in English, a new prestigious scholarship presented by the English Department. Goss is a graduate of East Juniata Junior-Senior High School and is currently pursuing a bachelor of arts in English and philosophy at The Valley.

The O'Donnell Scholarship in English is limited to students attending Lebanon Valley College identifying as English majors in one of the following concentrations: communications, literature, theater, secondary education, or creative writing. To be considered for this award, high school seniors must rank in the top ten percent of their high school class and submit an essay describing their academic accomplishments and interest in the study of English.

The O'Donnell Scholarship is renewable for four years for students that maintain a 3.0 GPA overall and continue to major in English. Recipients must participate in one of the English Department's extracurricular activities including the Greenblotter Literary Society, Wig and Buckle Theater Company, or La Vie Collegienne. Once recipients reach the junior and senior level, they participate in either planning and implementing the O'Donnell Poets and Writers Series, or editing the Valley Humanities Review.

As a recipient of the O'Donnell Scholarship, Goss will have multiple opportunities to explore, apply, and practice the skills acquired through the English Department, providing Goss with a challenging and engaging Lebanon Valley College education.
