Garrett Santis Earns USTFCCCA Academic Honors

2018 Feb 26

Garrett Santis of Ijamsville, Md., earned all-academic honors from the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches' Association (USTFCCCA).

Santis, a graduate of Urbana High School, is pursuing a bachelor of science in chemistry in ACS chemistry at LVC. Santis earned MAC Second-Team All-Conference honors thanks to a 20th-place finish at the conference's championship meet in the fall. He followed it up with an 84th-place finish at the NCAA Mideast Regional in November in a race that featured 365 total competitors. Santis was also named to the MAC Academic Honor Roll last month.

Individually, there were 668 student-athletes (368 women, 300 men) that received USTFCCCA All-Academic honors. To earn that distinction, student-athletes must have a cumulative GPA of 3.30 or higher and finish in the top 25 percent at their respective regional. The team must also have a minimum team GPA of 3.10 on a 4.0 scale.

The Flying Dutchmen also earned USTFCCCA Team Academic Awards as a whole, with both the men's and women's teams qualifying for the accolade.
