Johnson, a graduate of Hempfield High School, is a member of the softball and women's golf team, and received a bachelor of science in digital communications at The Valley. As a member of the softball team, she was named to the ECAC First-Team All-Stars thanks to her record-breaking 2016 season. Johnson turned in the best season of her stellar career during her senior campaign en route to being named an NFCA All-East Region Second-Team pick and MAC Commonwealth All-Conference Second-Team selection. Johnson was also named to the MAC Spring Sportsmanship Team.

The academic honor roll is comprised of student-athletes who compete in a varsity level sport and registered a term/semester GPA of 3.20 (on a 4.00 scale) or higher. In 2015-16, the MAC allowed freshmen to be eligible for the conference academic honor roll for the first time.

The addition of freshmen allowed for a record 2,278 MAC student-athletes who competed in baseball, men's and women's basketball, men's and women's golf, men's and women's lacrosse, softball, men's and women's swimming, men's and women's tennis, men's and women's indoor track & field, and men's and women's outdoor track & field to earn honor roll recognition. A total of 827 student-athletes were named to the winter honor roll and 1,451 were named to the spring version.
