Elizabeth Zeiner of Leesport Inducted to Theta Alpha Kappa and Delta Alpha Pi at Lebanon Valley College

2014 Apr 14

Elizabeth A. Zeiner of Leesport, Pa., was inducted to the Theta Alpha Kappa and Delta Alpha Pi honor society at Lebanon Valley College during Inquiry 2014, the College's two week long celebration of the scholarly, scientific, and creative achievements of the student body. Zeiner is pursuing a bachelor of arts in religion and is a graduate of Schuylkill Valley High School.

Theta Alpha Kappa is the national honor society for religion studies and theology. Established in 1976, today the society includes more than 200 U.S. chapters ranging from small religiously affiliated colleges to large public research institutions. It is the only national honor society dedicated to recognizing academic excellence in baccalaureate and post-baccalaureate students and in scholars in the fields of religious studies and theology. Students must have a 3.5 GPA in their major studies and a 3.0 GPA overall.

Delta Alpha Pi is an academic honor society for students with disabilities in colleges and universities. According to the society’s website, because of the negative stereotyping associated with disability, students have been reluctant to identify themselves publicly. Delta Alpha Pi presents an opportunity to change that perception by recognizing students with disabilities for their academic accomplishments. The society also seeks to facilitate development of skills in leadership, advocacy and education for participating students.

The fourth annual Inquiry celebration began Sunday, March 30 and concluded Saturday, April 12. View images from the events at www.lvc.edu/fb/inquiry-2014/index.aspx.
