Christopher Dunlap Recognized for Contributions to VALE Records

2015 Apr 30

Christopher Dunlap, of Harrisburg, Pa., is among 30 students Lebanon Valley College is recognizing for contributions to the success of VALE Records during the 2014-15 academic year. VALE Records is a student-run branch of VALE Music Group LLC, located within the College. It began during the spring semester of 2013 as an interdisciplinary 1-credit class, IDS 199, meeting 1 hour a week.

Dunlap is a graduate of Bishop McDevitt High School and is pursuing a bachelor of music in music recording technology, music at The Valley.

At the beginning of the spring semester, the student-run class separated into groups in charge of recording, publicizing, marketing, and preparing its newest artist Kali Rodgers for the release of her record and performance at ValleyFest. An EP from Rodgers is the label's third record release.

Innovative marketing included: establishing a game of assassins to brand the record label; scheduling local news interviews with VALE representatives; attending a music business conference in Cape May, N.J.; and discovering how the "real world" music industry functions.

There has been no other experience offered at LVC that brings together students from all disciplines to work in such a collaborative environment, creating a product representing the best of what the students at LVC have to offer.

The officers of VALE Records this year were:

Cristabelle Braden, Head of New Media; John DiCocco, Head of A&R and VALE Live; William Gartrell, Head of Marketing; Katlyn Jumper, President of VALE Music Conference; Pamela Keating, Secretary; Timothy Lupia, Head of Publicity; Patrick Maxwell, President of Music Industry Students Assocation; Carrie McFeaters, Head of Publishing; Caden Myers, President of VALE; Rachel Netel, Head of Production; Peter Yzquierdo, Head of Sales
