2017 Jun 23

Cheyanne Brown of York, Pa., is one of more than 200 student-athletes who competed for the Flying Dutchmen during the 2017 spring sports season. Brown, a graduate of William Penn High School, is pursuing a bachelor of arts in global studies and sociology at The Valley.

Brown was a member of the Women's outdoor track and field and softball team. Women's outdoor track & field finished off its most recent campaign with a fourth-place team finish at the MAC Championships this spring. The team was paced by Olivia Jendrzejewski and Lauren Decker; both athletes earned berths to the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships in May after being named USTFCCCA All-Region. Jendrzejewski was named the MAC Outdoor Field Athlete of the Year after winning a conference title in the triple jump, while Decker won a MAC Title in the 400m. Both athletes were named CoSIDA Academic All-District and Jendrzejewski earned MAC Outdoor Track & Field Senior Scholar-Athlete of the Year recognition. Teanna Shutt, Sarah Grow, and Kate Mowrey joined Decker as MAC gold-medal winners in the 4x800m relay, and 14 student-athletes earned all-conference accolades. Softball won 25 games this season and finished two runs shy of winning a MAC Commonwealth Championship after an outstanding postseason run. The team was led by all-conference first-team honorees Sammy Bost, Maddie Abbot, and Lexi Windsor. All three were named ECAC South All-Stars, while Bost and Windsor were pegged all-region. Annie McClain and Savannah Toth joined the trio as MAC Commonwealth All-Conference players. Bost became the first student-athlete in school history to earn three CoSIDA First-Team Academic All-America honors and she was also named the MAC Softball Senior Scholar-Athlete of the Year. Brown was named to the All-MAC Outdoor Second Team for the 200m dash.

A member of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division III, American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA), Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC), and Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC), Lebanon Valley College offers 25 sports.
