Brianne Eisenecker Assist with Translation of Physical Therapy Children's Book

2015 Oct 16

Brianne Eisenecker of Sparta, N.J., spent part of the Spring 2015 semester at Lebanon Valley College translating a physical therapy children's book into different languages. The book, "Sammy's Physical Therapy Adventure" had previously been created by Dr. Michael Fink, associate professor of physical therapy, with the assistance of LVC students. Fink and his team also created a coloring and activity book to accompany the story.

However, after the book was complete, Fink soon discovered that there was a need for alternate languages, particularly Spanish. Seeing the need to expand the project, Fink recruited language students for phase II, translated editions of the book in Spanish, German, and French. The project was facilitated by an Arnold Grant from the College.

Eisenecker assisted with the German translation of the book. Eisenecker, a graduate of Sparta High School, is pursuing a bachelor of science in early childhood education and special education at The Valley.

Now available on Amazon, "Sammy's Physical Therapy Adventure" has been received well in the market. Even with this success, Fink realizes that there's still work to be done. Phase III, a digital reading of the book and audiobook in several languages, is targeted at illiterate children.
