Anderson Orr Tabbed CoSIDA Academic All-District

2018 Feb 26

For the second year in a row, Lebanon Valley men's basketball player Anderson Orr of Wernersville, Pa., has been rewarded for his stellar efforts on the court and in the classroom by being named Academic All-District by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). He joined five others on the District 4 Team that includes all of Pennsylvania.

Orr, a graduate of Conrad Weiser Area High School, is pursuing a bachelor of science in business administration.

Orr has been strong across the board as a senior and is averaging a double-double with 18.5 points and 10 rebounds per game this season. The team captain leads the MAC Commonwealth with a .543 field goal percentage, while ranking third in the conference in scoring and second in the league in rebounding. His two blocks-per-contest average is also good enough to rank him third among conference players. Orr racked up 12 double-doubles on the year and was named the MAC Commonwealth Player of the Week on three occasions this season. He earned a spot on the D3hoops.com Team of the Week in November and was pegged the ECAC South Player of the Week earlier this month. He is one of just three players in program history to score 1,900 career points and grab 800 career rebounds. For his efforts, he was named to the MAC Commonwealth All-Conference First-Team for the third year in a row.

He has also excelled in the classroom during his time at LVC. In 2017, Orr was named to CoSIDA's Academic All-District Team for the first time after twice earning a spot on the Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Academic All-Conference Team as a junior and sophomore. Orr carries a 3.58 cumulative GPA.

CoSIDA annually recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances both athletically and in the classroom. Orr will now be included on the CoSIDA Academic All-America Team ballot, from which first, second, and third-team All-Americans will be selected later this spring.

To be eligible for Academic All-American consideration, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.3 on a 4.0 scale, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standings at his/her current institution, and be nominated by his/her sports information director.
