Anderson Orr Earns Player of the Week Honors

2018 Feb 26

Anderson Orr of Wernersville, Pa., was named the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) South Division III and Middle Atlantic Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week on Feb. 20. Orr, a graduate of Conrad Weiser Area High School, is pursuing a bachelor of science in business administration at The Valley.

Orr helped the Dutchmen lock up the No. 2 seed in the MAC Commonwealth Championship Tournament thanks to a pair of victories over conference rivals. The senior scored a season-high 31 points on 8-of-11 shooting, grabbed a game-high 10 rebounds, and blocked four shots in an 82-79 road win over No. 20 Lycoming on Tuesday night, Feb. 13. He also shot 13-of-16 from the charity stripe in the win with a steal and an assist. The team captain followed it up with 16 points, eight rebounds, five blocks, three assists, and a steal in a 72-69 win over Messiah on Saturday afternoon. For the week, he averaged 23.5 points, nine rebounds, and 4.5 blocks per game. He was named the MAC Commonwealth Player of the Week for his efforts.

He also joined teammate Sam Light in reaching an historic career milestone during the pair of wins. During the same week that Light reached the 2,000-point scoring mark for his career, Orr surpassed 1,900 points for his career. He is just the third player in program history to score 1,900 career points and grab 800 career rebounds.
