Alyssa Carter of Lancaster, Pa., is serving as a student leader at Lebanon Valley College this year. Carter is the president of Active Minds.

Active Minds is a National organization that works to utilize the student voice to change the conversation about mental health on college campuses through campus-wide events and informational sessions and activities. Active Minds is a student-run mental health awareness, education, and advocacy group that works to increase students' awareness of mental health issues, provide information and resources regarding mental health and mental illness, encourages students to seek help as soon as it is needed, and serves as liaison between students, professors, staff, faculty, and the mental health community.

Carter is a junior psychology and philosophy major.

Lebanon Valley College is located in Annville, Pa., just 15 minutes east of Hershey and 35 minutes east of Harrisburg. Philadelphia, Washington D.C. and Baltimore are all approximately two hours from LVC. Founded in 1866, the College welcomes more than 1,600 full-time undergraduate students studying more than 30 majors, as well as self-designed majors. It guarantees graduation within four years and offers automatic scholarships to students ranking in the top 30 percent of their high school class worth up to one half the cost of tuition at LVC.
