Adam Abruzzo Leads Lebanon Valley College Service Project

2009 Sep 28

Adam Abruzzo of Stevensville, Md., a sophomore studying health science at Lebanon Valley College, Annville, Pa., recently chaired a service project for incoming freshmen at the College. He was in charge of having students make bracelets for the Cool Kids Campaign in Cockeysville, Md., and for having students create holiday decorations to benefit Special Olympics. Abruzzo was one of 15 student leaders working on 15 separate service projects in the college's Arnold Sports Center Arena. The student leaders are heavily involved in service organizations on campus.

More than 400 new students worked together on the projects, designed to benefit service organizations in Lebanon County and beyond. All projects were completed around the 220-meter indoor track sports center.

The service project is the first of a series of programs designed to support LVC's goal to "prepare students for a life of service to others," a key tenet of the College's mission statement. The service projects provided a unique opportunity for incoming LVC students to work together as a class toward a common goal.

Lebanon Valley College is a liberal arts and pre-professional college with an enrollment of some 1,600 undergraduate students. The College provides a private, liberal arts education in an environment that fosters success and achievement. U.S. News & World Report's annual America's Best Colleges guidebook has ranked LVC number two in the North in the 'Great Schools, Great Prices' category among 'Best Baccalaureate Colleges'. An outstanding faculty at LVC oversees 35 majors, and students can choose from over 60 clubs and organizations and over a dozen study-abroad programs. The College automatically offers scholarships to students who graduate in the top 30 percent of their high school class, up to half the cost of tuition.
